About me

Alexandra E. Tataru Fine Artist Graphic Designer2

Alexandra E. Tataru, MA is a fine artist educated in Europe.  Born in Northern Romania, Ms. Tataru grew up in the idyllic foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, but spent her childhood nonetheless living under the harsh realities of communist rule. She began painting when she was six years old.  At the age of nine, her talent was recognized, and she was invited into an art institute for early art training.  Her high school education focused intensely on visual art, whereby students were provided with four hours a day of art instruction in addition to their academic courses, and this transitioned her to her undergraduate and graduate studies in fine art and design.  After studying on scholarship at the University of Salamanca in Northwestern Spain, she set out on her career, finding inspiration for her work all around her and developing a desire to push the boundaries of what can be achieved through art.  Her career has taken her across Europe and the Middle East. She loves mediums such as oil, acrylic, pastel, and gold leaf, and much of her subject matter is comprised of cityscapes and portraiture, with a focus on the expression of ethnic cultures and the energies of people and places.

In her early career, she created graphic design work for international magazines and design agencies and served as director of a museum in Barcelona.  These experiences further laid the groundwork for her own artistic style, which is notably versatile. Her extensive travels have led her to explore many cultures, and this is having a profound influence on her current work.  Viewing Alexandra’s paintings is like taking a journey into another world—one that is full of colour, emotion, and beauty. She loves mediums such as oil, acrylic, pastel, and gold leaf, and much of her subject matter is comprised of cityscapes and portraiture, with a focus on the expression of ethnic cultures and the energies of people and places.

Ms. Tataru regularly fulfills private commissions, and her artwork hangs in businesses and homes across Canada, the United States, and Europe.

Alexandra’s art is like her background: multicultural and mixed with what she loves. Her paintings reflect this diversity; they are vibrant and full of life. Each piece she produces is a unique expression of her creative vision and emotion. Each work of art tells a story that is personal to Alexandra.

Ms. Tataru is proud to now call Canada home. She is married with a one-year-old daughter.  Her work is currently being exhibited in Vancouver by the Federation of Canadian Artists.

“Every moment of my life is a painting.”
