About the Crowds Collection
“We are born into a culture that is the result of an ethnic collision.”
Crowds is the precursor to the Ethnic Synergies collection, which is one of the reasons I wanted to exhibit it alongside Ethnic Synergies. Crowds is a reflection of what I perceive when a gathering of individuals from various origins, ethnicities, and cultural heritages comes together, by design or by happenstance, to connect, enjoy, and mingle, or simply to move about amidst each other. The colours I’ve chosen depict the energy and motion they emit. Our energies are a reflection of our lives, and while we are all different, we are all, ultimately, similar. We may hold different beliefs, but in the end, we are all part of a crowd, each day constructing our own societies’ distinct traits, never as a mirror image of someone else and always unique in our essence. And because some have particularly stood out from the crowd at various times in history, the dance of their personalities has helped to create our world today. Alexandra Tataru
