About the Skylines Collection

“A city has facets of its personality that come out at different times.”

Each city I visit has such a strong vibe all its own, which I am always looking for a method to capture in a painting. In the case of this collection, I’m attempting to represent the essence and strength of a city. I can’t just make a pretty, static skyline of it; I need to discover what I feel are the perfect reflections of the buildings and combine them all into the impression that place gives. My goal is to capture the rhythm of a city, its vibrations and energy. I enjoy showing the dual identities of a city in my skylines, those of day and night, and the iridescent colours I employ come to life depending on the vantage from which you are looking at the painting—just like a city in real life, which has facets of its personality that come out at different times and under changing conditions. My cities must come to life and pulse through the canvas.
